Cabinet art deco geometric contrast sideboard family home

James and Emily's suburban dream

James and Emily moved to a suburban home in the Midwest in 2021. Their 120 sqm (1,300 sq ft) apartment had a small dining area that felt cluttered. "We loved the open floor plan, but storage was a nightmare," Emily recalls. Their neighborhood in suburban St. Louis had neighbors who constantly shared tips on home improvements, especially for small spaces. "Everyone here talks about maximizing every inch," James says. They decided to revamp their dining space to make it both functional and stylish.

The hunt for the right bar cabinet

They spent months searching for a bar cabinet that would fit their needs. The couple wanted something modern but timeless, something that could double as a buffet or sideboard. Most options they found were either too bulky for their apartment or too plain for their taste. "We wanted something that would make a statement," Emily says. "But everything seemed either too expensive or too small."

Enter the Art Deco geometric contrast sideboard

One evening, while browsing an online furniture retailer, they stumbled upon the Art Deco Geometric Contrast Sideboard. The diagonal cream and black design immediately caught their eye. The fluted buffets and brass triangle handles added a touch of elegance, while the tapered legs gave it a modern twist. "It was perfect," Emily says. "The size was just right for our space, and the design was exactly what we were looking for."

Measuring for the perfect fit

The sideboard measured 120 cm (47 inches) wide, 60 cm (24 inches) deep, and 180 cm (71 inches) high. It weighed 45 kg (99 lbs), making it sturdy enough to hold their collection of fine china and glassware. James and Emily measured their dining area carefully to ensure it would fit. "We had enough space for it, but we wanted to make sure it wouldn't overwhelm the room," James says. The sideboard also came with a 5-year warranty, which put their minds at ease.

Why the Art Deco style? The perfect blend

The Art Deco style was a deliberate choice for James and Emily. They wanted a piece that would reflect their modern tastes while still having a timeless appeal. The geometric contrast design added a unique touch to their dining space, making it stand out from the rest. "We wanted something that would be a conversation starter," Emily says. "And this piece definitely delivers."

US housing realities and climate considerations

The sideboard's design also took into account the varying climates in the US. The materials used were durable enough to withstand both dry and humid conditions, ensuring that it would hold up over time. James and Emily appreciated the attention to detail, especially since they lived in an area prone to humidity. "We didn't want to invest in something that would easily warp or fade," James says. The sideboard's brass triangle handles were also a plus, as brass does not tarnish easily, which is a common concern in coastal areas where humidity can be high.

MIDHILL: The perfect local furniture store

After doing some research, James and Emily found a local furniture store called MIDHILL that carried the Art Deco Geometric Contrast Sideboard. They visited the store in suburban Atlanta and were impressed by the selection of bar cabinets and the knowledgeable staff. "The salesperson helped us find the perfect fit for our space and answered all our questions," Emily says. MIDHILL also offered a delivery service, which was a lifesaver for the couple. "We didn't have to worry about moving the heavy piece ourselves," James says.

The installation and the final result

The sideboard was delivered to their home in late December 2021. The installation team from MIDHILL arrived on schedule and had the piece in place in no time. "They were professional and efficient," James says. "We were impressed with their work." Once installed, the sideboard transformed their dining space. It provided ample storage for their dishes and glassware, and it became the focal point of the room. "We love it," Emily says. "It's exactly what we were looking for."

A long-term investment

James and Emily plan to keep the sideboard for years to come. Its timeless design means it will never go out of style, and its durable materials ensure it will hold up over time. "It was a significant investment, but we know it was worth it," James says. "It's something we'll cherish for years to come."
