Living in Singapore, where every square centimeter counts, can be a challenge for those looking to furnish their HDB flats or condos. High humidity, monsoon rains, and the compact size of the typical apartment require careful consideration when selecting furniture. In this article, we put two top corner sofa sets to the test to see which one is best suited for small-space living. Our verdict: The American Solid Wood Luxury Leather Sofa Set with Chaise Lounge is the standout choice.
Singapore's HDB flats and condos are known for their small footprints. The average household has less than 70 square meters of living space, and during the monsoon season, the need for moisture-resistant and easy-to-clean furniture becomes paramount. Midhill, a neighborhood in central Singapore, is no exception, with its dense residential population and limited green spaces, making space optimization a key concern.
Sofa Set A measures 150cm in width, 200cm in depth, and requires 50cm of clearance from walls for optimal movement and air circulation. Sofa Set B, on the other hand, offers a more compact footprint of 130cm x 200cm with a clearance requirement of just 40cm. For Singapore's HDB flats and condos, the latter's size and clearance make it the more practical choice.
While both sets feature a solid wood frame, Sofa Set A is constructed with particleboard, making it less durable compared to Sofa Set B's premium solid wood frame. This difference in construction is significant in a humid climate like Singapore, where the potential for mold and mildew growth is higher.
Sofa Set A has standard cushioning, providing a comfortable seating experience. Sofa Set B, however, boasts plush cushioning with superior support, perfect for families that need extra comfort, especially considering Singapore's hot and humid climate.
Sofa Set A lacks a coffee table or TV cabinet, meaning you'll need to purchase additional furniture for these functions. Sofa Set B, however, includes both a coffee table and a TV cabinet, providing a comprehensive solution for small spaces.
While Sofa Set A is priced lower, its lack of storage and durability concerns may outweigh its initial savings. The American Solid Wood Luxury Leather Sofa Set, at S$2650.00, offers better long-term value with its superior materials, storage solutions, and comfort features.
Considering the compact size of Singapore's living spaces, the need for storage solutions, and the challenging climate, the American Solid Wood Luxury Leather Sofa Set with Chaise Lounge, Coffee Table & TV Cabinet is the clear winner. Its size, material quality, storage options, and comfort features make it an ideal choice for any small-space living situation in Singapore, including the bustling neighborhood of Midhill.
When choosing furniture for your Singaporean home, it's crucial to consider factors like size, durability, and functionality. The American Solid Wood Luxury Leather Sofa Set ticks all the boxes, offering a practical, stylish, and comfortable solution for Singapore's unique living environment. Invest in quality over quantity, and your living space will thank you.
