In a bustling city like Singapore, where HDB flats and condos dominate the landscape, space is at a premium. The high humidity, coupled with the small footprints and frequent monsoons, makes every inch count. For one Singaporean family living in MIDHILL, the challenge was finding a storage solution that not only maximized space but also added a touch of elegance to their home. This is their story, showcasing the total cost and maintenance routine over five years.
Singapore's housing market is known for its small but efficient living spaces. The average household footprint is around 45 square meters, making storage an essential consideration. In MIDHILL, a neighborhood filled with compact homes, finding a storage bench that blends functionality and style was a priority.
Enter the American French Scallop-Edge Carved Queen Bed, a masterpiece in the form of a storage bench. At a cost of S$1150.00, it was an investment in both space and aesthetics. The bench featured an Ivory Lacquer finish, complemented by a Silver Crown Crest and Champagne Gold Trim, and a matching Diamond Tufted Headboard.
Installing the bed was a day filled with excitement. With its dimensions of 200cm x 180cm, the bed occupied the corner of the bedroom without overwhelming the space. The matching tufted bench added 50cm to the width, providing ample space for extra storage.
Maintenance was straightforward, involving regular dusting with a soft cloth and occasional cleaning of the leather with a specialized leather cleaner. Here's the breakdown:
Over five years, the total cost of the bed and bench, including installation and maintenance, came to approximately S$2000. This included the initial cost of S$1150.00 and maintenance expenses of S$850.00. Despite the initial investment, the family felt that the benefits outweighed the cost.
The storage bench not only added style to the bedroom but also created a functional space that was much-needed in their small home. The extra storage reduced clutter, and the elegant design was a conversation starter among visitors. The family felt that the bench was a worthwhile investment in their home and quality of life.
